In collaboration with staff from the Division of Information Technology and eLearning Services, the Faculty Development and Instructional Design Center staff had an opportunity to share ideas and resources with visitors from the St. Louis Community College on June 23 & 24, 2014. The topic was how to prepare for a Blackboard learning management system upgrade, while maintaining a high level of support and services to faculty, students, and staff who use it.
The administrators and staff from this four-campus, community college were initially impressed by the Teaching with Blackboard site, and expected to learn about best practices in preparing for and implementing a large scale upgrade during their visit. However, they credited the “most productive and collegial meeting” they ever observed as their inspiration to move forward with their plans. The exchange of ideas between NIU and STLCC was enriching for both institutions.
