Each year, the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL) hosts a Teaching Effectiveness Institute (TEI) to inspire faculty for the upcoming semester. We are excited to announce that Dr. James Lang will be our featured speaker on August 13th. Dr. Lang is an internationally renowned speaker, scholar, professor of English, and Director of the D’Amour Center for Teaching Excellence at Assumption University in Worcester, MA.
Dr. James Lang is author of six books including Distracted: Why Students Can’t Focus and What You Can Do About It (Basic Books, 2020) and Small Teaching: Everyday Lessons from the Science of Learning (Jossey-Bass, 2016). He also publishes a column on teaching and learning in The Chronicle of Higher Education.
During the Fall 2021 Teaching Effectiveness Institute, Dr. Lang will lead collaborative discussions and share tips for handling common teaching challenges in Small Teaching: From Minor Changes to Major Results and Teaching Distracted Students.
