What does quality look like in online learning? How has the landscape of online learning changed over the course of the pandemic? What is the difference between emergency remote learning and quality online learning? Inside Higher Ed aims to answer these and other questions in a special report by Kristi DePaul: “The Evolving Conversation about Quality in Online Learning.”
The report explores the pandemic’s impact on the practice and perceptions of online learning in higher education, student expectations surrounding quality of online learning, faculty training, how to judge quality in online learning (and who decides what “quality” means), and best teaching practices. Ultimately, it is up to each institution to determine which learning modalities best serve their students and institutional mission, who to consult and collaborate with to make those decisions, how to use data to assess what works and what doesn’t work, and what kind of sustained training and support faculty need to be successful online educators.
